Remediator 10kg bag

Soil contaminated with hydrocarbons — it’s every chemical or petrol company’s worst nightmare.

It spells certain death for nearby plant life, and it also potentially spreads to nearby water bodies. On top of that, you could face astronomical fines from the EPA for land contamination.

And removing hydrocarbons from soil is usually expensive and time-consuming work. Options include physical excavation, aeration (further risking air pollution), or using thermal radiation to remove contaminants.

So how do you safely and cost-effectively decontaminate soil?

Remediator is a soil decontaminant that has been charged with oil-degrading, naturally-occurring and supplementary micro-organisms (no genetic modification or bioengineering).

It contains all of the necessary components for microbial generation and maintenance — an essential requirement for rapid bioremediation. When given a hydrocarbon food source and kept moist, the microorganisms rapidly break down the hydrocarbon contaminants into their harmless constituents.

Remediator is applied by blending the dry product with the contaminated soil as evenly as possible. Once the contaminant hydrocarbon comes in contact with Remediator, it will be absorbed and encapsulated (up to saturation level). The product is dispersed by tilling, and there is no requirement for washing and milling as with other bacterial applications.

Remediation can take place in situ (to a depth of .5 metres) whereas deeper contamination should be excavated, blended and treated ex-situ (or replaced in-situ). Sludges should be thoroughly blended with a bulking agent for moisture retention. Keep product dry prior to application. A general application protocol and a more detailed technical application protocol (for a crude oil spill) can be downloaded here. Detailed, site-specific application protocols are available upon request.

As a safe-to-use, dual-purpose oil and fuel absorbent as well as a bioremediation agent, the Remediator is also able to be used on direct spills.

In soil remediation no two situations are identical, therefore the correct application protocols should be determined in conjunction with Enretech personnel.

The Remediator process has been extensively used over the past 14 years in Australia and internationally, and has been independently verified by universities or research organisations in Canada, USA, UK, Japan and South Africa.
